Queen of Peace Center, a Catholic Charities of St. Louis agency, named Sharon Spruell CEO, effective this week. Spruell has served as interim CEO since the departure of Lara Pennington in April.
“Sharon’s strong clinical and team-building expertise, coupled with her demonstrated passion for our mission, clients and staff, position her to lead the agency,” Brian Sponsler, board president, said in a statement.
Spruell joined Queen of Peace in 2017 as the clinical director and in 2018 was named chief program officer. Prior to joining the agency, she worked at BJC Behavioral Health.
She has a B.A. in psychology from Saint Louis University and a M.A. in counseling from Webster University. Spruell is a licensed professional counselor and a co-occurring disorders professional diplomate. Spruell is a parishioner at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Imperial and a member of Generate Health’s Perinatal Behavioral Health Initiative steering committee.
Queen of Peace is a family-centered behavioral health care provider serving women with addiction, their families and children. The agency provides a variety of treatment options to women with co-occurring disorders and those affected by trauma.
Catholic Charities oversees eight agencies, including Cardinal Ritter Senior Services, Catholic Family Services, Good Shepherd Children and Family Services, Marygrove, Queen of Peace Center, St. Francis Community Services, Saint Martha’s Hall and St. Patrick Center.
Catholic Charities had revenue of $87.9 million for fiscal year ended June 30, 2017, according to its annual report. The organization had expenses of $92.3 million during the same fiscal year.
