Our Purpose
Our purpose is to provide family-centered care for individuals with substance-use disorders, their families, and at-risk youth through treatment, prevention and education, and housing.
Our History
Since its founding in 1985, Queen of Peace Center has been dedicated to providing holistic, family-centered behavioral healthcare for women, children, and families in St. Louis. Our unique approach addresses the full continuum of needs for those impacted by substance use disorders, co-occurring disorders, and trauma. Through our comprehensive programs, we offer not just treatment, but also education, prevention, and housing solutions, ensuring that the basic needs of food, medicine, and stability are met throughout each recovery journey.
Queen of Peace Center is more than just another charity; it is a vital “service line provider” within the larger mission of Catholic Charities of St. Louis. We embody the “communion of care,” offering healing, help, and hope through a unified approach to serving those in need. This commitment to comprehensive care is reflected in everything we do, from the services we offer to the compassionate presence we maintain for those who walk through our doors.
As part of Catholic Charities of St. Louis, those who come to Queen of Peace Center enter into the full Catholic Charities experience. This means that beyond the specialized care provided here, individuals and families can access a wide range of services across our continuum of ministries. Whether it’s housing support, job training, mental health services, or emergency assistance, our interconnected service lines ensure that every need is met, and every person receives the care they deserve.
What began as a home for women serving women remains a place where women can heal—not only themselves but their entire families—seeking treatment and bettering their lives. If these terrazzo-lined halls could talk, they would tell the stories of countless women, their struggles, and their triumphs. We would hear them knocking at our door, asking for help, and together, we would once again commit to changing their lives and the lives of their children, now extending that same commitment to their husbands and partners as well.
Queen of Peace, a ministry of Catholic Charities of St. Louis, is a separate 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and has its own Board of Directors licensed by the Missouri Department of Mental Health and accredited by the Council on Accreditation. Our funders include the Missouri Department of Mental Health, St. Louis Mental Health Board, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Saint Louis City Continuum of Care, and St. Louis County Children’s Service Fund, among others.
